BFD 2019 | Brisbane | 31st May – 2nd June 2019
This event is the single biggest business education event of 2019 uniquely capturing the key concerns of all medical professionals.
BFD19 is an opportunity to network with business entrepreneurs, successful practice owners, visionary practice managers, emerging fellows, retiring business owners and newly graduated interns. A spectacular Gala Dinner with charity auction is available as a discounted add on for full delegate tickets. We have also included welcoming cocktails for our past attendees and sponsors.
Over 90 workshops across the weekend, 3 keynote speakers, 40 exhibitors, and 40 presenters over 3 days we offer streams to suit all career stages.
Our new “Women in Medicine” workshops – “Thriving not just surviving” – offers life and career advice from four successful female surgeons who have survived the training of a male dominated specialty. These workshops are the essentials of good living for our junior doctors and female surgical trainees as well as our Panel Discussion which will be open to all attendees.
Our sponsors and presenters are hand selected with just 12 exhibitor’s opportunities on each conference day. We seek business sponsors that reflect the values of Business for Doctors.
Keynote Speakers:
Dr Steven Petterson
Steven speaks of his good fortune, as a recently injured cyclist and now quadrapalegic, and puts life and everyday woes in persepctive. Dr Peterson graduated from ANU in 2010 and has been working in rural general practice, emergency and drug withdrawal units. His life changed in an instant March 16, 2018 when he was hit by a car travelling at 80 km an hour whilst riding his bicycle to a shift at the emergency department. He suffered numerous injuries, the most severe being C4 complete quadriplegia. He spent the majority of 2018 in hospital, undergoing 12 operations and once stabilised intensive rehab. He has now returned to work and plans to continue as part of the Orange medical community. He is married with two young children, whom he credits with helping him get through the year. He plans to speak about the behind-the-scenes costs and challenges of becoming suddenly very sick and unable to work but with a family still requiring support.
Mr Keith Abraham – Leader, Author and Motivator
Including Keith as one of speakers was to address the issues of goal setting for health professionals and the steps of goal setting for patients – which will bring care plans to Medicare compliance.
Establishing true goal alignment enables an individual to live their personal, and professional lives energised, and with direction. Inspiring audiences in 23 countries for more than 20 years, with a client base of over 300 companies, it is no wonder that Keith has won numerous awards including the highest honour for professional speaking, the Nevin Award, and Keynote Speaker of the Year by the Australian National Speakers Association.
Dr April Armstrong – Founder and Director of Business for Doctors, Medical Practitioner & GP practice owner.
For those of you have met April you will know there is always something new to learn despite reading her hundreds of posts and blogs. April has grown the Business for Doctors group over three years into to a thriving community of like-minded medical professionals while simultaneously providing business workshops around Australia and growing the special offers for the Business for Doctors Members.
